GLI Announces 2016 Silver Fleur-De-Lis Winners

 (Louisville, KY) – Greater Louisville Inc. will be honor two groups with the Silver Fleur-de-Lis at the upcoming Annual Meeting being held on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017.

 

Louisville Regional Airport Authority (LRAA) was selected to receive an award after completing major terminal renovations and securing more nonstop destinations in 2016.  Louisville International Airport Terminal is the front door to the Greater Louisville region. The Terminal’s new modern, streamlined redesign, featuring local businesses and other unique qualities of our region, demonstrates that Greater Louisville is a wonderful place to live, play, and work. The additional nonstop flights, added in 2016, make the airport and our region more convenient for people to conduct business. LRAA Chairman, Jim Welch and Executive Director, Skip Miller will be on hand to accept the award.

 

The organizations behind the Muhammad Ali Life Celebration will be honored with a Silver Fleur-de-Lis as well. The Muhammad Ali Center, along with Boxcar PR, the Louisville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Mayor’s Office, LMPD, KFC YUM! Center, and the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center will be recognized for their leadership and coordination of the Celebration. The passing of Muhammad Ali in June of 2016 turned international attention to Louisville. The seamless work of every agency listed above made our city rise to the occasion.  Muhammad Ali’s life was marked by Greatness.  The ability of this year’s honorees to capture his legacy in just a week’s time will be a sterling chapter in our region’s history for generations to come.

 

The Silver Fleur-de-Lis was created by GLI to recognize outstanding commitments and achievements over the past year in making the Louisville community a better place in which to live and work. 

 

The Greater Louisville Inc. Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Louisville Palace Theatre located at 625 S 4th Street in Louisville.  As previously announced, delivering this year’s keynote will be John Schnatter, Founder & CEO of Papa John’s Pizza.  Muhammad Ali, humanitarian and boxing legend, will also receive GLI’s Thomas A. Edison Award posthumously during the program.
