Greater Louisville Inc. unveils top local priorities during discussion with Mayor Greenberg
Louisville, Ky. (January 25, 2023) – Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) released its 2023 Local Legislative Agenda during the first of its 2023 Capitol Connection event series, presented by Norton Healthcare, which also featured a discussion with newly elected Mayor of Louisville, Craig Greenberg.
GLI’s third annual local legislative agenda includes top priorities for the business community in the year ahead, like updates to the city’s land development code, support for accessible wrap-around support services that help move people into housing and employment opportunities, and policies to aid in talent attraction and retention. Each year, GLI produces local, state, and federal agendas that outline the business community’s top policy priorities and guide GLI’s advocacy team as they pursue business-friendly legislation.
“GLI is unique from other organizations in our advocacy engagement at the local level of government. Pro-growth policies have a direct and substantial impact on our ability to attract businesses and talent to Louisville and grow our regional economy” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “We are only able to engage in effective advocacy through strong relationships with local leaders and we appreciate Mayor Greenberg’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector throughout his term.”
This year’s local agenda prioritizes a safer Louisville that embraces development and growth. This includes strategic investments in public safety initiatives and proven measures to reduce crime and violence, the recruitment and retention of qualified law enforcement, public-private partnerships to reduce homelessness in our community, land development policies that improve our national reputation as a pro-growth region, and creating more housing and urban density, with sustainable infrastructure to support new developments.
During the Capitol Connection event, Mayor Greenberg shared updates on his first month in office and plans to partner with the business community and GLI. He gave updates on his top priorities, which include addressing rising violent crime and increasing access and supply of affordable housing.
