Greater Louisville Inc. to take local business, elected leaders to Boston for annual GLIDE trip

Louisville, Ky. (February 16, 2023) – Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) announced that its annual trip to study peer cities, Greater Louisville Idea Development Expedition (GLIDE) presented by Norton Healthcare, is heading to Boston this fall. The 38th annual trip will focus on a range of topics including industry cluster innovation in manufacturing and technology, waterfront and medical district development, and Boston’s unique public service programs.

GLIDE is an annual, exclusive program for GLI investors, including community representatives, elected officials, entrepreneurs, education delegates and business leaders, to see how a selected city has overcome obstacles and achieved success. The 2023 trip will focus on how Louisville can replicate Boston’s success, and avoid missteps associated with accelerated growth.

“In over three dozen GLIDE trips, this will be our first visit to the northeastern U.S. Not only is Boston one of the nation’s oldest cities, but it has also put a number of industries on the cutting edge of innovation,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “I am looking forward to understanding how they have cultivated strong industry clusters and grown some of our nation’s biggest companies.”

The 2023 trip to Boston will be held from October 4 – 6. Registration is open to GLI’s Top Investors only until March 16 and will open to all GLI investors on March 17. Click here to register and learn more.

“GLIDE is a unique opportunity for local leaders to spend three full days together, getting new ideas on how to grow and improve our city. I am thrilled to learn more about Boston and use those insights to grow my business and help shape GLI’s work in the future,” said Camilla Schroeder, president of Advance Ready Mix Concrete and chair of GLIDE Boston.

Last year, GLI took GLIDE attendees to Jacksonville, Florida to study their innovative economic development strategies, thriving downtown, and best practices for talent retention and growth. Takeaways from GLIDE JAX are available here and are currently being implemented through GLI’s work. Previous destinations also include Indianapolis, San Francisco, Nashville, Austin, and Charlotte.
