Greater Louisville Inc. unveils Local Legislative Agenda, hosts event with Governor Andy Beshear
Louisville, Ky. (March 19, 2024) – Greater Louisville Inc. released its 2024 Local Legislative Agenda during the first of its 2024 Capitol Connection event series, presented by Norton Healthcare, which also featured a discussion with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
For the past four years, GLI has published an annual Local Legislative Agenda, outlining critical priorities for the business sector in the upcoming year. In addition, GLI publishes an annual state and federal agenda that is released in the winter and summer respectively. These documents serve as a roadmap for GLI’s advocacy efforts in promoting legislation that benefits the business environment.
Top priorities in GLI’s 2024 Local Legislative Agenda include new and long-standing initiatives, including modernizing the city’s land development code, making strategic investments in public safety initiatives and measures to reduce crime, implementing strategies to attract and retain talent, and addressing the housing needs to support population growth.
“Policies at all levels of government impact businesses in our region, however, local policies directly impact development, competitiveness, and quality of life. That’s why we maintain a constant presence at City Hall, advocating for top priorities and developing relationships with Metro Council and the Mayor’s Office,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “This year’s Local Agenda outlines many policy priorities that are critical to sustaining our region’s strong economic momentum.”
The agenda was unveiled during GLI’s Capitol Connection presented by Norton Healthcare, where Governor Beshear shared updates on the legislative session and his key priorities for his second term in office. These priorities include childcare, increasing talent attraction, and economic development.
