TARC Hold Community Meetings to Discuss Future Coverage
In the past few weeks, TARC has been taking public comments on changes coming to the organization as they face financial concerns that require immediate action. In these community meetings, leaders from TARC discussed the financial hardship the agency has faced, where their main forms of funding can stretch, and how the elimination of service throughout the region can impact the workforce.
Their campaign titled TARC 2025 offers conceptual renderings of future service maps with different aims including one map focusing on areas of high ridership, one focusing on county wide coverage, and their most innovative, the “Growth” map, offering the ideal coverage map should the agency be fully funded.
The public sessions were hosted to educate the public on TARC’s financial situation and lay out potential paths forward and listen to public feedback on other solutions and potential impacts for any of the proposed plans. During the discussions, TARC heard a range of feedback from suggesting adjustments in tax structures, to partnerships with JCPS to transport students. The campaign will wrap up next week and TARC will begin creating their final proposals for lawmakers.
