Greater Louisville Inc. releases updated federal legislative agenda
Louisville, Ky. (September 2, 2021) – Greater Louisville Inc. unveiled its 2021-2022 Federal Legislative Agenda which outlines the regional business community’s top priorities for the remainder of the 117th Congress. Supports for the region’s economic recovery remains a top concern, in addition to several long-term GLI policy priorities.
“Our region is still actively recovering from the economic impacts of the pandemic and needs support from all levels of government to get people back to work and help our businesses rebuild,” said Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of GLI. “In addition, now is an opportune time for our lawmakers to take action on long overdue policy solutions and reforms to ensure our region comes back stronger than it has ever been before.”
Key priorities identified in the agenda include addressing workforce shortages across industries and specifically in the healthcare sector, COVID-related liability protections for businesses, and increased investment and funding for infrastructure improvements. The agenda covers five main categories – business competitiveness, education and workforce development, environment and energy, health care, and transportation and infrastructure – with specific policy solutions that were developed by GLI’s six issue advisory committees and Public Policy Council.
“GLI’s advocacy for the business community has positioned our region for a strong economic recovery,” said Tim Hagerty, Chair of GLI’s Public Policy Council. “The new federal agenda outlines proactive and forward-thinking policies that will allow our region to continue growing and driving innovation.”
The federal legislative agenda is the result of a months-long, member-driven process, with dozens of regional business leaders volunteering their time and expertise and collaborating with community partners, stakeholders, and policymakers. The final product is a document that represents the priorities of the Greater Louisville business community. To view the full agenda, click here.
